What is Fonderie Maestri’s LSC Technology for?

LSC Technology, Lubrication with Closed Die-Casting Tool, is the system patented by Fonderie Maestri to apply the release agent inside the closed mould, rather than spraying it from the outside as in the traditional method. Its purpose is to lubricate and cool the mould in a precise, controlled and clean way, while at the same time improving the quality of the finished part and reducing the environmental impact of the process.

What are the advantages of Fonderie Maestri’s LSC Technology?

Environmental: the process completely eliminates noise during the lubrication phase, reduces emissions into the environment by 90%, and allows the same release agent to be reused throughout the entire day, drastically cutting down on liquid waste to be disposed of.

Production: machine preparation time is reduced, mould wear is lowered thanks to the reduction of thermal shock on steels, and rejects decrease due to better management of air pressure in the mould cavity compared to the conventional system.

What is the difference between the conventional lubrication system and Fonderie Maestri’s LSC Technology?

In the traditional system, the mould opens, a robot sprays the release agent onto the surfaces, the excess liquid falls or is dispersed into the environment, and then the mould closes again for the shot. With LSC Technology the mould remains closed: the release agent is introduced and removed through dedicated ‘ports’ built into the mould itself. This means less noise, lower release agent emissions into the air, less liquid waste, and more efficient cycles.

How is Fonderie Maestri’s LSC Technology used?

The LSC unit, positioned alongside the die casting machine, is connected directly to the mould via a plug and play system. Before each shot, with the mould closed, the system introduces the release agent into the cavity through the dedicated ‘ports’ and removes it with compressed air. Control software integrated with the die casting machine manages all process parameters.

Where is the Fonderie Maestri LSC unit installed?

The LSC unit is an external unit placed alongside the existing die casting machine. No structural modifications to the plant are required: it connects to the machine via the control software and to the mould via the plug and play system. The installation is therefore compact and non-invasive with respect to the shop floor layout.

How large is the Fonderie Maestri LSC unit?

The LSC unit is designed to sit alongside the die casting machine without taking up excessive space on the shop floor. Exact dimensions vary depending on the configuration and the size of the machine.

Does Fonderie Maestri’s LSC Technology work with all die casting machines?

LSC Technology has been developed to be compatible with die casting machines currently in use. The only requirement is that the mould be adapted with ‘ports’ for the entry and exit of the release agent. This modification is reversible: at any time it is possible to revert to using the mould with the conventional lubrication system.

How is Fonderie Maestri’s LSC Technology configured?

Configuration is carried out through the control software developed by Fonderie Maestri, designed to integrate seamlessly with the die-casting cell. The interface is intuitive and allows all process parameters to be set and monitored: quantity of release agent, pressure, injection and removal times. The system is designed to be operated by shop floor personnel without requiring advanced programming skills.

Are any special accessories needed to adopt LSC Technology?

Three elements are required to adopt LSC Technology: the external LSC unit (connected to the die casting machine plug and play), the mould adaptation to create the ‘ports’ for the entry and exit of the release agent, and the control software supplied by Fonderie Maestri. No other special accessories are required. The mould modification is the only one-time intervention, and does not preclude returning to the conventional system.
